Asparagus Setaceus ‘Plumosus’ presents as a mass of very fine, filiform cladodes—thin, needle‑like leaf‑structures—that form dense, triangular sprays for an overall feathery, lace‑like effect. The plumes are bright green and sit on wiry, arching stems, producing a soft, cloud‑like silhouette that cascades attractively from a pot or basket. You may also spot tiny white to pale‑pink flowers and, on vigorous plants, small berries that mature from green to red and then dark.

Retail plants arrive as compact, trailing displays but this species will change with age: juvenile specimens keep dense, short sprays while mature stems lengthen and can twine or scramble several metres if given support. Flowering and berry set are uncommon indoors but happen when the plant is vigorous. Unlike coarser asparagus types, this one stays markedly finer and more lace‑textured than Asparagus densiflorus 'Sprengeri', which has thicker, more robust cladodes and a mounded habit.
