Summary: A collector’s mini with rosy petioles and dramatic, saw-toothed foliage—made for bright corners and design-forward shelves. Perfect for German apartments and Indoor plants for European homes.
✨ Why You'll Love the Alocasia brancifolia ‘Pink Passion’
- Blush accents: elegant pink petioles under bold, serrated leaves.
- Compact statement: Baby size (P5 pot ~5 cm; H12 ~12 cm tall) fits window sills and small plant shelves.
- Design-forward texture: deeply lobed edges add instant tropical energy.
- EU-grown quality: acclimated for European homes and stable year-round indoor growth.
- Style tip: pair with other Alocasia or soft ferns for contrast.
🌞 Light & Placement
- Bright, indirect light; gentle morning sun is fine, avoid harsh midday rays.
- Ideal temperature: 18–28 °C; keep away from draughts and cold winter windows.
- Place 0.5–1 m from an east or north window—perfect for compact German apartments.
💧 Water & Humidity
- Water when the top 2–3 cm of substrate is dry; never let the pot sit in water.
- Enjoys 60–75% humidity—use a pebble tray or humidifier in heated European homes.
- Feed lightly every 4 weeks in spring–summer with a balanced aroid fertiliser; pause in winter.
🪴 Soil & Potting
- Use an airy aroid mix (fine bark, perlite, coco coir) for fast drainage and oxygenated roots.
- Choose a small pot with drainage; up-pot only when roots circle the base.
- Our aroid substrate and breathable pots support vigorous root health.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
- Toxic if ingested (calcium oxalate). Keep away from pets and children; wash hands after handling.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
- Clumping Alocasia producing corms and offsets over time.
- Propagate by separating offsets/corms during spring repotting; plant shallowly in a moist, airy mix and keep warm.
- As a baby plant, growth is moderate; leaves become larger and more serrated with maturity.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
- Autumn–winter: growth slows; reduce watering and hold fertiliser until days lengthen.
- Supplement light with a grow lamp in darker European winters.
- Wipe leaves to remove dust and support photosynthesis.
🐛 Common Issues
- Yellow leaves: overwatering—allow the top layer to dry further.
- Crispy edges: low humidity or too much sun—raise humidity and soften light.
- Pests (spider mites/thrips): inspect undersides; treat early with gentle insecticidal soap and improve humidity.
🧬 Botanical Background
- Alocasia brancifolia is prized for its serrated, lobed foliage and architectural form.
- ‘Pink Passion’ is selected for its distinctive pinkish petioles and refined, modern look.
