Alocasia Frydek | Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Toxic to pets
Summary: Known for its deep green velvety leaves and striking white veins, Alocasia Frydek adds refined tropical beauty and architectural elegance to any indoor jungle.
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sun to protect delicate velvety leaves. Ideal near east or north-facing windows, or in bright plant cabinets with stable humidity.
Keep soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Requires moderate to high humidity (above 60%) to keep foliage healthy and vibrant. Mist regularly or use a humidifier during dry seasons.
Prefers a rich, airy aroid mix with peat, perlite, and orchid bark for optimal drainage and moisture retention. Repot every 1–2 years in spring to refresh nutrients and support growth.
Toxic to pets if ingested due to calcium oxalate crystals. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs to avoid irritation or stomach upset.
Moderate-growing with new leaves developing strong veining and velvety texture as it matures. Propagate via division of offsets during repotting to expand your collection.
Reduce watering slightly in winter when growth slows. Maintain temperatures above 18°C and avoid cold drafts. Fertilise monthly during spring and summer with a diluted balanced fertiliser to support healthy new growth.
Prone to spider mites in low humidity conditions. Yellowing leaves often indicate overwatering or poor drainage. Wipe leaves gently to remove dust and maintain their velvety appearance.
Alocasia Frydek, also known as Alocasia micholitziana 'Frydek', is native to Southeast Asia. Admired for its velvety green foliage and dramatic veining, it is a timeless favourite among European indoor plant lovers seeking refined tropical beauty.

My experience at plant circle: I ordered 5 plants, alocasia to Slovenia, but Loco was sold out, they informed me about this and gave me the choice of another plant or a refund, my decision is to get another Frydek plant. The shipment of plants arrived carefully packaged without damage. But the alocasia was not in the package, at first I was disappointed, but the next day I was surprised, DPD delivered and made up for my Frydek plant. I received a notification from plant circle that they forgot to send it in the first shipment and sent it back without any additional costs. plant circle is one of the best indoor plant stores, you deserve a rating of 10 not just 5. Thank you.
