Anthurium peltigerum | Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Rare velvet-leaf baby plant
Summary: The Anthurium peltigerum enchants with its deep green, velvety leaves and distinct veining. This compact baby plant (P6, H20 cm) is a must-have for collectors seeking a sophisticated, exotic accent suited to European indoor environments.
Thrives in bright, indirect light — ideal for a spot near an east-facing window. Avoid direct sun to prevent scorching. Great for bright rooms in German or Central European apartments where filtered daylight is available year-round.
Keep the substrate lightly moist but never soggy. Water when the top 2 cm of soil feel dry. Prefers high humidity (70–85%) — place near a humidifier or in a glass cabinet for optimal leaf texture and growth.
Plant in a light, airy aroid mix with excellent drainage. Combine orchid bark, sphagnum moss, and perlite for best results. The P6 pot size makes it perfect for early growth stages. Repot every 12–18 months as roots develop. Explore our premium Anthurium substrate for ideal results.
Like all Anthuriums, A. peltigerum is toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets and small children.
Moderate grower. Mature plants develop larger, more elongated velvet leaves over time. Propagate by division or stem cuttings once the plant has established multiple growth points — best done in warm, humid conditions.
During the cooler months, reduce watering slightly and maintain stable temperatures above 18 °C. In spring and summer, fertilize monthly with a diluted, nitrogen-rich aroid fertilizer to encourage lush leaf development.
Anthurium peltigerum hails from the humid forests of Ecuador and Colombia, known for its uniquely velvet foliage and elongated heart shape. It belongs to the velvet-leaved Anthurium group, closely related to A. crystallinum and A. regale — treasured by collectors worldwide.
