The ultimate easy-care green companion
Epipremnum aureum | Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Not pet-safe
Summary: Also known as Golden Pothos or Devil’s Ivy, this medium-sized Epipremnum is a lush, trailing classic that thrives in European homes and German apartments with minimal care.
✨ Why You'll Love the Epipremnum aureum
- Glossy, heart-shaped leaves with vibrant green tones
- Extremely resilient—perfect for beginners
- Versatile growth: let it trail elegantly or climb a moss pole
- Air-purifying qualities for a healthier home
- Compact size (P12, H20) fits neatly on shelves, desks, or windowsills
🌞 Light & Placement
Tolerates a wide range of light, from bright indirect to low light. Best near east or north-facing windows. Avoid direct midday sun to prevent leaf burn.
💧 Water & Humidity
Water moderately, allowing the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry out before rewatering. Adapts well to average European indoor humidity but appreciates the occasional misting, especially in dry winter months.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Thrives in a well-draining potting mix with perlite or coco coir. Repot every 1–2 years to refresh the soil and encourage root health.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Not pet-safe: Contains calcium oxalates, which are toxic if ingested by cats, dogs, or children. Keep out of reach of pets and little hands.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
A fast grower that can trail over 1.5 m when mature. Easily propagated by stem cuttings in water or soil, making it a perfect plant to share with friends.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertilizer. Growth naturally slows in winter—reduce watering and feeding accordingly.
🐛 Common Issues
- Yellow leaves → usually overwatering
- Drooping foliage → plant is thirsty
- Pale leaves → not enough light
🧬 Botanical Background
Epipremnum aureum, native to Southeast Asia and the Pacific, is one of the world’s most beloved houseplants thanks to its unmatched hardiness. Its nickname “Devil’s Ivy” comes from its ability to stay green even in less-than-ideal conditions.
