Goeppertia crocata ‘Candela’ | Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Not pet-safe
Summary: Goeppertia crocata ‘Candela’ is a rare flowering Calathea that produces vibrant, candle-like orange blooms above deep green foliage. Perfect for European homes, it brings warmth and colour during the darker months.
✨ Why You'll Love Goeppertia crocata ‘Candela’
- 🔥 Striking orange flowers: Unique, flame-like blooms brighten autumn and winter interiors
- 🌿 Decorative foliage: Rich green leaves with a soft, velvety texture
- 🏡 Perfect for German apartments: Compact size ideal for shelves, tables, and plant corners
- 🌗 Low-light tolerant: Thrives in indirect light conditions
- 🎁 Seasonal statement plant: A standout gift or centerpiece during colder months
🌞 Light & Placement
Place in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can damage the leaves. Tolerates lower light, making it suitable for north- or east-facing rooms common in European homes.
💧 Water & Humidity
Keep soil evenly moist, but not soggy. Water when the top layer begins to dry. Prefers higher humidity, so it thrives in bathrooms, kitchens, or near a humidifier.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Use a well-draining, airy houseplant mix with components like coco coir, perlite, and bark. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent root rot.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Not pet-safe. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
This is a compact, clump-forming plant that grows up to around 40 cm tall. Propagation is typically done by division, though best handled by experienced growers.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
Flowers typically appear in late autumn to winter, making this a rare seasonal houseplant. Reduce feeding during winter and maintain consistent warmth.
🐛 Common Issues
- Brown leaf edges: Often caused by low humidity or tap water sensitivity
- Yellowing leaves: Usually due to overwatering
- Curling leaves: Indicates underwatering or dry air
🧬 Botanical Background
